Land policy possibilities in industrial heritage area

Eindhoven sharing the story of NRE in a webinar

19th June 2020

As our cities change and grow, they confront us with questions: How do we best renew urban areas that have fallen behind? What is the best way to urbanise new land? How do we collaborate with developers and other stakeholders to ensure that our efforts are inclusive and successful?

In this webinar, which is prepared in collaboration with the EU-funded Trans-Urban-EU-China project, Marianne Willemsen, project manager of ROCK in Eindhoven, will tell the story of the NRE area, a former industrial area that have been regenerated using a co-creation approach with future residents. Marianne will share the story of the NRE business model and how real estate and property have been used to realize functions and soft values in Eindhoven. What was the role of the municipality in the process, not only temporarily but also in the final implementation?

Other speakers include:

  • Stefanie Rößler from the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development, Dresden who will present on urban renewal
  • Alexandra Weitkamp from the Technische Universität Dresden who will present on land management
